Helen Hallesy: Welsh CeramicsHelen Hallesy: Welsh Ceramics

Helen Hallesy is a native of Pontardawe in the Swansea valley and has been trading from her shop in Swansea since 1984, under the name of ‘Magpie Antiques’.

Although the business dealt in general antiques, Helen has a long-standing interest in Welsh ceramics, and has published a number of books and articles on varying aspects of the potteries in South Wales.

The shop is now closed, but Helen continues with her research and active participation in her role as ceramic advisor to Swansea Museum services. She is also a council member of the Royal Institution of South Wales.

Titles of her publications include the following: “THE GLAMORGAN POTTERY, SWANSEA 1814-38”, published 1995, “YNYSMEUDWY POTTERY”, an offprint from “Welsh Ceramics in Context Part II”, published 2005, and  “SWANSEA POTTERY COLLECTORS’ EXHIBITION 2006”. She has also published a number of articles for ‘Minerva’, journals of Swansea History. All of these titles are available to purchase by contacting her email address.

Helen is available for general enquiries, buying and selling, consultation and valuations; a ‘search and find’ service is also available to collectors looking for a specific item.
